The Breakup

Yesterday, Bodie ended a long (2 year +) and tumultuous (on again, off again, back on again and desperately needed) relationship with his beloved Sildenafil, the pulmonary hypertension drug better known as Viagra.
Bodie giving himself his last dose.

Mommy is thrilled (no more battles with the insurance company - you'd be amazed at how hard it is to get something approved for your 2-year old son to be able to breathe properly, considering most of the male population over the age of 60 has no issues obtaining it).

The cardiologist is happy (no sense in keeping him on a med he doesn't need anymore).

Let's hope Bodie's body is as happy as the rest of us.

Big day for our little man.

  4. Wow! Bodie is getting so big and grown up! It's been awhile since I've checked in and seen how much he's really grown. What good news about ditching the drugs and going on vacation!

Amy, it's good that you are out there encouraging those who are facing a new diagnosis. I know that when our CHD kids were babies we supported each other for a long time going through all the surgeries, meds and feeding tubes together, but I think one of the best comments that I got on my blog was from a mom who's son with HLHS was 5 and she gave me some really reassuring words. Keep up the good work with your blog. Unfortunately mine has been lacking.
